This Will Take Some Explaining

May 10, 2010

There’s an episode of South Park where Kenny’s ghost is possessing Cartman’s body. While the episode spends a long time exposing the malfeasance of that vulture fraud John Edward, part of its B plot is that every time the boys fly somewhere, there’s a trailer for a terrible new Rob Schneider movie.

One of the things I have always loved about that episode is how they nail that bubbly yet smug voiceover style that has become ubiquitous.

Here’s one of a handful that appear in the episode:

If you’ve been reading the blog for a while, you know that I refer to rednecks as “hearda hattas.” It’s a phrase I picked up from Uhh Yeah Dude, a very funny podcast that everyone should listen to. Hearda hatta refers to the sounds that rednecks make. No matter what words they are trying to employ, it just sounds like a twangy mush of “hearda hatta hearda hearda hatta hearda hatta.”

With those two things in mind, take a look at this video I just saw on Pharyngula.

It’s an unholy blend of hearda hatta and Rob Schneider! A perfect storm! Someone jam an icepick in my brainstem.
