During the blizzard, I wrote about how snowmen seem to be the result of an atavistic drive to domesticate or personify precipitation. As soon as there is enough snow on the ground, we run outside to make little us-es out of it. Also, the typical snowman design struck me as primitive, totemic, and really un-human looking.
Well, the good people at the National Zoo didn’t waste their time thinking. They made little snowmen, decorated them with treats, and gave them to the little mammals there. Neat!
