Dear Wikipedia, I’d Like You to Meet My Friend “A Grain of Salt”

From Wiki’s Lilith Fair article:

In its 3 years, Lilith Fair raised over $10M for women’s charities throughout North America, helping to pave the way for female musicians the world over.

For the record, those 3 years were 1997-1999.  Don’t tell Ani DiFranco, Ella Fitzgerald, Maria Callas, or Janis Joplin.

i would think those hippie lilith fair types would be perfectly happy with dirt roads, and wouldn’t need them paved.

Who gives a crap? File this away with the WNBA.

Better question: How bored do you have to be to read the Wikipedia page dedicated to the Lilith Fair?

A valid question, David. And the answer isn’t as clear cut as your question assumes. My co-blogger Ian told me that Tegan killed Sara. Of course, I assumed he was joking, but I went to the Tegan and Sara article on Wikipedia. It mentioned that they played at the Lilith Fair. I clicked on the hyperlink, read the first paragraph, and had a good laugh at the claim that it had paved the way for female musicians.

I decided to share that laugh with the readers of Is It Luck, but apparently at least one of them – you – demands more than a laugh. Will you ever be satisfied?

Are you talking about Tegan the porno actress? I didn’t think she performed at Lilith. Maybe it’s not soooooooooooooo bad after all.

No, I’ll never be satisfied. Ever.

Sorry to burst your bubble, bud; it’s Tegan of Tegan and Sara fame. You know: the hipster identical twin lesbian songwriters from Canada.

That said, it wouldn’t surprise me if Annie Sprinkle put on a show at Lilith.

It’s funny to me that this Lilith Fair post has spawned MUCH more reaction that the abortion soup post from last night. What the hell is wrong with you people?

i didn’t react to the other one because i thought it was old hat that abortion soup is significantly marked up at large venues such as lilith fair. you just come to expect that these days.

highway robbery, paved road or not.

I didn’t want to look at it while I was eating lunch and I never came back to it. Granted, that doesn’t delve into the essence of your question about what is wrong with me. We need more time and a lot more space for that. Also, you would probably want to put a pot of coffee on.

I don’t know that I would characterize my interaction with Barry as an “assumption” on his part that I was joking. You decide:

3:09 me: PM did you hear that Tegan killed Sara?
    3:10 PM Barry: NO
    is this a joke?
    3:11 PM me: yes
    Barry: oh
    Good joke <— gotcha.
